STORY
A secluded island in the Arctic Ocean, 32 kilometers out at sea from the coast of Northern Norway. 13 people live here all year round.
The air is saturated with salt. The wild winds howl around us. The Arctic light changes through the seasons. All production, storage and bottling takes place in the old fishing village of Myken.
Immersed in dark winter storms and everlasting midsummer light, our whisky is made by sea and sky at the most remote distillery in the world.

THE SOTOL PLANT, A RELATIVE TO THE AGAVE PLANT, IS NATIVE TO THE DESERT AND IS EXTREMELY RESILIENT. ITS PURITY SPEAKS WITHOUT EMBELLISHMENT. THE PROCESS OF MAKING THE LIQUID IS LARGELY CARRIED OUT BY NATURE ITSELF, WHICH MAKES THE DESERT OUR LEAD CRAFTSMAN.
Every plant utilized from the wild is not only accounted for, but has a robust sustainability and growth plan behind it. In 2019, Nocheluna began a partnership with top field academics to establish the largest cultivation field of Sotol in Chihuahua–ensuring the long-term sustainability and preservation of the plant.

ocean heart
Our first core whisky, Ocean Heart, has made the transition to our new 700 mL bottle. Ocean Heart 25/1 edition is an unpeated whisky, made from malted barley, and matured in 200 liters ex-bourbon oak casks for 6 years or more. This edition is historic, as it is made from 2/3 Norwegian barley, the first Norwegian barley we were able to buy, back in 2019. About half of the whisky in this edition was finished for 6-12 months in several 30-, 40- and 50 L casks, both ex-sherry and ex-bourbon cask previously used for maturing Myken whisky.

sea mist
Perfectly peated, this whisky is matured in ex-bourbon casks made of American oak, with a small touch of ex-Pineau des Charentes-matured whisky for sweetness and roundness.
Sea Mist complements out core range of Myken Arctic Island Whisky with a peated touch, well-balanced with the maritime character and savory profile. The whisky has a moderately smoky taste, which is balanced by vanilla, citrus and fresh fruits. Creamy caramels with a hint of salt, and a long and peppery tail.

Norwegian Single Malt Whisky made from seawater. Desalinated spirit slowly distilled over a live flame in copper stills. Made by the ladies of Myken during a rough autumn gale. Slightly peated. Matured in ex-sherry casks and rounded off with a few ex-bourbon casks.

first 10 years
First 10 Years consists of whisky made from unpeated malted barley during our first months of operation, when the labour was voluntary and we were still working for free. The whisky is made from desalinated sea water from the Arctic Ocean surrounding us.
Distilled slowly over a live flame in copper pot stills. The whisky was matured in 2 x 200-litre firstfill barrels of ex-bourbon (Makers Mark), provided to us by our cooper Thorslund Kagge.
We started distilling in late December 2014, during Christmas. By May 2015 we had fill our 9th barrel, two of which we were able to save for our first ten year old single malt whisky.
